February 21st 1815
I have nothing to report for the days have passed slowly without incident.
I did however have a very strange dream.
I was in a garden thick with lush richly green trees and foliage. There were so many paths; I was in a quandary to know which one to take. There was a small trickling stream to my right in the distance. I could hear it running as clearly as my own breathing. Each path feels to have a huge significance on where I shall end up. There are lushly covered dark and twisted paths, or open brightly clear paths with the sunlight shining through the bows of the trees. I look down and in the dark brown earth there is a shining key appearing beneath soil. I uncover the key pick it up and rub it wondering where it belongs. I choose a path that is closest and hold onto the key as if it will protect me in my chosen direction. The path gets more difficult, and then I see a beautiful white cottage up ahead. Then from my left I spot a huge brown bear. He is hungry I’m sure for he starts toward me. I run as fast as I can to get to the house, I just don’t seem to get there. This key must let me in! I run and run. I woke up tired and astonished at how vividly horrid my dream was. What does this mean? Does my subconscious mind feel uneasy about where I am headed? Are there great obstacles ahead? Will I achieve my hearts desires?
He comes tomorrow. I will rise early to place my letter at the tree.
